The beach, with rock and sandy pools left by the tide is a wonderful area for families and children with the pleasures of swimming and surfing in the Atlantic waves for the more adventurous. The beach is patrolled by lifeguards in July and August.

At Higher Crackington (about a mile up the road) a post office and store provide basic supplies. Fresh vegetables and bread are also available close by. There are riding stables nearby and visitors can hire the tennis courts by the sea.

Bude, Boscastle and Tintagel are a few miles along the coast and provide an interesting range of shopping and recreational facilities.

The coastline of North Cornwall is magnificent. There are towering cliffs and thunderous high seas, magnificent beaches, sheltered coves and picturesque fishing villages.
